Welcome to Kimbolton School eLearning: a brief introduction to Moodle

Moodle is a VLE (Virtual Learning Environment); this is a web-based system that stores learning resources e.g. documents, tests, online demonstrations, multimedia activities etc. These can be accessed on the internet anytime, anywhere. The VLE allows teachers to manage the organisation of the materials into modules or courses so that students have easy and simple access to their learning. The VLE supports and extends a Blended Learning approach to teaching beyond the classroom and the school day. For teachers it can be an additional tool to use as part of a lesson or as an environment for an entire course. For students it can be an easy way to get all the resources and information they need for a lesson or course. This can be accessed from in school via the intranet or at home via http://moodle.kimbolton.cambs.sch.uk. Allowing students to carry on with their education if they cannot attend school, or if they simply want to check on the work they've been set by their teacher.
